Noisy ideas
At Henshaws we know how precious the 5 senses are because we support people who have lost or are losing one of the most valuable senses - SIGHT. That’s why we have put together plenty of fundraising ideas to tickle all your senses. The following ideas take the theme of sound.
Disco-mania
Get your dancing shoes on and hold a disco in your school or college hall. Each pupil can bring in their favourite CD or you might want to hire a DJ. To keep costs down, you could make your own decorations for the hall as well as prepare the party food.
School idol
Like singing? Then why not hold a karaoke event, Pop Idol style? The teachers can be the judges and the pupils the performers, or vice versa! You can charge friends and family an entry fee to watch the competition.
A touch of class-ical - music appreciation concert
Is your school full of talented musicians? Do you know your Mozart from your Beethoven? Delight your senses with a music extravaganza and impress your teachers, family and friends by performing your favourite music. Don't forget to ask your guests to pay for the pleasure of listening to you!
Silence is golden
Do you love chatting, singing, whistling or humming - could you live without sound for a day? Your friends probably don't think you can, so why not prove them wrong by taking part in a sponsored silence. That includes not making or listening to any sounds. You'll be amazed at how much you'll rely on your other senses!
Silly voice day
How funny would it be if your teacher spoke all day in a silly voice? Get your classmates to come up with some suggestions - a weird accent, a lesson spoken back to front - and for every different voice you should sponsor your teacher.
Spelling bee
A great way to learn new words and raise money at the same time. Look through the dictionary and come up with a list of difficult and complicated words to test yourself and others on. You could also give your spelling bee a theme. For example, you can learn words to do with eyes and eyesight. Each participant pays a fee to take part.
