Tactile ideas

At Henshaws we know how precious the 5 senses are because we support people who have lost or are losing one of the most valuable senses - SIGHT. That’s why we have put together plenty of fundraising ideas to tickle all your senses. The following ideas take the theme of touch.

Sensory trail

Feel what it's like to be blind by taking part in a touch trail around your school. Pupils should work in pairs, one blindfolded and the other describing the route.

Bears in need of a home….

Henshaws has a room full of bears that need a loving home. Pay £1 and try and guess the name of one of our lovely, cuddly bears. The person who guesses correctly gets to keep the bear! Click here for more information.

Sporting heroes

Do you have the touch? Whether it's football, basketball, netball, hockey or cricket…if you've got the touch when it comes to sport then why not put your talents to good use and organise a sponsored sporting competition? Each member pays a fee to take part and spectators also pay to watch.

Lend a 'High Five' Helping Hand

Get your relatives to sponsor you to help them out, for example with the vacuuming, washing the car, washing the dishes, walking the dog and with the food shopping.

Henshaws' Big Rummage

Always a popular choice for people who love a good rummage. Get as many people as you can to donate things they no longer need which can be sold at the sale. Then put your hands to work selling those unwanted books, comics, toys and other bric-a-brac.

Come fly with me

Everyone in your class makes a kite then flies it in the local park one afternoon. Each pupil pays £1 to take part in the kite-flying event.

Arts and Crafts afternoon

Put your hands to good use by making cards and gifts using brightly coloured paper, foils and other collage materials. Then sell your craft items to your friends at a school fayre or at lunchtime.

Braille taster session

How hard do you think it would be to learn braille? Henshaws can provide information sheets and samples of braille for your class to have a go. Or go dotty and hold your own braille competition.
