The following points summarise the research findings amongst families with a parent who has a visual impairment.
- Medical staff required training to enable them to provide information to mothers at maternity stage.
- Parents main area of concern with regards to information was around 'schooling,' such as: transport to and from school for parents and children; dropping off and meeting children at school and aiding children with reading and homework.
- A need for company contact information who provide specialist products such as babies bottles.
- Holidays was another area where parents felt they needed information such as available holidays for visually impaired parents with sighted children and how to get support while on holiday abroad.
