Field tests
What are field tests?
A field test is a hospital check that examines loss of peripheral vision. These are common particularly in conditions such as glaucoma. During the test, a patient is asked to look into a machine and to press a button when they see a light. Some lights appear in the central field vision and some in the outside field of vision. The regularity of a field test depends on the person and their particular eye condition; it is a way of checking a person's eye health and to determine whether any action needs to be taken.
A patient should not be surprised if a Doctor does not carry out the field test. Usually, if the field test results have not changed since the last test, a patient may not need to make an appointment with the Doctor.
