The Arts and Crafts Centre is part of Henshaws – a charity that offers practical support and services to people of all ages living with sight loss, learning difficulties and additional disabilities.

Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre provides vocational training to people with disabilities. Our aim is to support people to reach their true potential by empowering them and providing them with independence skills, confidence  and arts, crafts and horticulture training in a flourishing SOCIAL ENTERPRISE environment..

The centre is a focal point within the local arts community and offers events for people of all ages.  Our events include:

  • art exhibitions
  • live music
  • theatre events
  • activities for children and families
  • activities for adults with a visual impairment & learning disabilities

The centre is fully accessible and has a ‘changing palces’ accessible toilet. During the week our visually impaired/disabled art makers work in our fifteen arts and crafts workshops.  Free tours, given by our visually impaired tour guides, are available to members of the public, groups and schools.

The Centre is home to Handmade at Henshaws – our very own social enterprise, offering real vocational opportunities to art makers and our own college students.

We have a fully licensed café, sensory garden & woodland walk, a shop, which sells entirely our Handmade at Henshaws products.  For further information, or to book a tour, please get in touch.
