Henshaws Community Housing

We provide Community Housing in several locations across the North of England and are seeking to extend our provision so that more people can take advantage of our approach to independence.

We offer registered Residential Care, Supported Living and Home Support and provide:

  • An approach that is particularly suitable for people with a visual impairment and other disability
  • 24-hour care
  • Supported service for those who wish to live more independently
  • Ordinary Housing that is part of the community, in 3 to 6 bedroom houses
  • Special adaptations and design features for people with sight loss

People who receive a service from Henshaws Community Housing are encouraged to participate in activities that develop life experience and skills, and to take part in a full programme of activity that includes them as part of the local community.

Support workers enable people to develop their own programmes of support that typically might include:

  • Further education
  • Work placements and voluntary experience
  • Leisure and sporting activities
  • Social activities.

All Community Housing residents have living skills training in the home, covering practical tasks such as menu planning, shopping, cleaning and help using community facilities and resources.
