We know how precious the five senses are because we support people who have lost or are losing one of the most valuable senses: sight.
So we’ve put together a whole heap of fundraising ideas for schools to tickle all your senses!
Get arty! Draw, paint or collage your your favourite places, people and things for a special school exhibition to celebrate sight!
A year in pictures – school calendar Collect the best pictures of your school and create a calendar to sell to your family and friends.
Film show Spend an afternoon watching your favourite films. Each pupil pays £1 to attend.
Fashion Show If you love clothes, then why not hold a fashion show and invite all your friends?
Read-athon Read as many books as you can in a month! Get sponsored for each book you read.
Be nosy Swap your favourite perfumes with your best friends. You’re sure to leave smelling of roses and leave a donation!
Smell the fear Challenge your friends to face their fears – touching a tarantula, singing on stage or swimming with sharks! We can help you organise daredevil activities.
I do like to be beside the seaside… If your school has a trip planned to the seaside, why not hold a sandcastle building competition, sports day or sponsored beach trail.
Disco-mania Get your dancing shoes on and hold a disco in your school or college hall.
School idol Like singing? Then why not hold a karaoke event, X Factor style?
Sponsored silence Could you live without sound for a day? Take part in a sponsored silence.
Spelling bee Look through the dictionary and come up with a list of words to test yourself and others on.
Sensory trail Feel what it’s like to be blind by taking part in a touch trail around your school. Work in pairs, with one blindfolded and the other describing the route.
Lend a hand Get your relatives to sponsor you to help them out – like vacuuming, washing the car, washing the dishes or walking the dog.
Jumble sale Get as many people as you can to donate things they no longer need
Braille taster session How hard do you think it would be to learn Braille? We can provide information sheets and samples of braille for your class to have a go.
International food evening Enjoy a night of tasty cuisines from around the world. Every pupil cooks a dish from a country of their choice then the food is sold at the event. You could even put all the recipes together to sell at the event.
Bush tucker trial You might not fancy the idea of tasting stick insects, witchetty grubs or beetles… but why not create some food that you’ve made to look like bugs and challenge your friends!
Yum yum! Fresh bread, melting chocolate, hot muffins, toffee apples, fresh fruit…whatever food you think tastes best, then why not spend the afternoon baking, cooking, blending or juicing. Sell what you’ve made!
