My six year old son Mikey has a condition called Leber’s. He’s very sensitive to light and is defined as severely sight impaired.
When Mikey was diagnosed, it was like a bombshell. Henshaws helped me through this. I can’t speak highly enough of their family support workers.
Mikey is bright as a button. Henshaws is a really positive environment for him to be in.
I don’t see Mikey as having a disability - I see it as a different ability. Henshaws sees it like that too.

I’ve been coming to Henshaws since Joseph was six months old.
I was involved with my local Sure Start Centre and what started as 1 hour a week with Joseph and Henshaws’ family support officer soon became a little group of families.
We go swimming with Henshaws on a Tuesday night.
I could never even think of taking all three of my children on my own. It has been fantastic to go with Henshaws and not have these worries. It’s very family friendly at Henshaws.
