We’re looking for employers across the North East to offer a two week work experience placement to a Skillstep student.  We make hosting a work placement as easy as possible for you – and you get a range of benefits too.

We offer free visual impairment awareness training (VIAT) for your staff, and also offer a braille and audio transcription service. 

Your local Skillstep coordinator will visit you before and during the placement. We will provide any orientation the student needs, plus any access technology – such as a laptop with ZoomText or JAWS. 

We can provide support in complying with the Disability Discrimination Act and information about the Access to Work scheme. Hosting a Skillstep student can also contribute towards being awarded with the Job Centre Plus disability symbol.
