Oscar’s Appeal

Oscar’s Appeal is a campaign to raise funds for our Patient Support Service at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and our Children and Families Services across the North of England.

Who is Oscar?

The campaign is fronted by one of our youngest service users, Oscar Hughes (pictured). Oscar is completely blind due to a genetic condition known as Lebers Congenital Amaurosis. At only two years old he is the youngest person Henshaws has helped to use a white cane. With the support of his family this confident little boy is leading the campaign, not only to raise awareness for child blindness, but also to fundraise for the charity that has supported him since he was a baby and will continue to support him as he grows in to an adult. At Henshaws we aim to equip Oscar with the skills and confidence he requires to enable him to live as independent and as fulfilling life as his two fully sighted older brothers.

What can I do?

We rely on the generosity of people like you, to keep our vital services going.

There are lots of ways you can get involved, either by donating, holding a fundraising event of your own, participating in a run or challenge and even getting your place of work or school involved.

Spread the word on Facebook and share this page with your friends, or follow us on Twitter @Henshaws and tweet to your followers about the campaign.  With your support we can make a difference
