Aids and Appliances Demonstrator

Where: Atherton House, Old Trafford and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital

When: 2 half days a week – days TBC

Commitment: Approximately 2.5 hours per session – (4 hours per week)

Purpose:

To raise visually impaired people’s awareness of the specialised products available to them.

Activities:

  • Inform visually impaired people of the various aids, gadgets and appliances presently on the market
  • Explain the usage of and demonstrate (where applicable) these products
  • Arrange the purchase of the products

Skills:

  • Clear, easy to understand speaking voice with the ability to explain something concisely and accurately.
  • Confidence when handling money.
  • Sufficient strength and ability to carry two cases of equipment
