Art Galleries and Museum Group Supporter

Where: An Art Gallery, Museum or Heritage site in the Greater Manchester Area – The group visits a different place every month.

When: Thursday morning every 4-6 weeks

Commitment: 2 hours per month (2 hrs at the event plus travel time)

Purpose: To support, guide and, where possible, transport visually impaired people who have an interest in the arts

Activities:

  • Liaise with client re. pick up time for lift from home (where applicable)
  • Provide transport to and from venue (where applicable)
  • Act as guide at venue on audio-described tour; help at handling table and sometimes a practical workshop activity
  • Help with refreshments (tea, coffee, etc)

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate and mix well
  • Good at guiding a visually impaired client
  • Good and considerate driver (if appl.)

Supervision / Support:

Liaison with Group Leader re. directions, car parking, pick up details, etc.
