Volunteer Driver

Where: Various locations and venues across Greater Manchester and Merseyside

When: Dependant entirely on your availability and clients needs – Daytime and/or evenings

Commitment: However long the event/activity requires – Often it will be transport to and from a group, or to an outing. Some of our drivers enjoy taking clients to groups on a regular basis.

Purpose: To enable visually impaired people who have no means of transport, to attend and enjoy functions, events and activities

Activities:

  • Transport clients from their homes to various venues and return them home
  • Assist clients at the venue (optional)

Skills/ Requirements:

  • Full, current, UK driver’s licence, held for at least 2 years
  • A valid Car Insurance certificate, with volunteering use acknowledged by insurer
  • Own roadworthy vehicle

Benefits:

  • Training, parking, reimbursement of expenses
  • Volunteers’ social occasions and events

Supervision / Support:

Regular contacts with Group Leaders and opportunities for further training (e.g. Minibus driving qualification)
