Set in beautiful surroundings at the heart of Knaresborough, our Arts & Crafts Centre offers fully accessible facilities and activities to inspire you. Come in and explore, meet our Art Makers and get creative with us.
On weekdays our workshops are filled with Art Makers creating beautiful and unique pieces of art. Visitors are welcome to come in and see what we’re making. We are a social enterprise and your support is hugely important to us.
You can explore our accessible facilities including our cafe, shop, woodland walk and outdoor spaces. We also hold regular events including live music nights, craft fairs and family activities.
Please follow the links below to plan your visit.
Our fully licensed café is open for breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks. There’s tasty homemade soup, sandwiches, topped jacket potatoes, cakes and more. Where possible, we use seasonal ingredients that are sourced locally or grown on site.
Please be aware that this is a training café and service may take a little longer than you are used to, but it’s worth the wait!
In our shop you’ll find an exciting range of products from Handmade at Henshaws, our social enterprise. You can purchase products made at the centre, including handmade cards, ceramics, bags, jewellery, bird tables, bird boxes and artwork.
It’s a great place to find an original card or present – and you’ll be helping to support our work as well.
Buzzing with activities...in every room there is something exciting going on. The art created is diverse and tantalises all the senses."
Visit our play area with its wooden pirate ship and plenty of toys to try. We also have a boules court where you can challenge your family to a game.
Or explore our picnic area, woodland walk and gardens where sculptures and artwork are waiting to be discovered.
Enjoy a safe space to explore in our beautiful woodland walk. Discover hidden corners of the garden including sculptures and works of art, water features, scented plants and wildlife.
Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds.
Our facilities for hire include a sensory room, gym, large cafe area and outdoor spaces.
We are an ideal venue for a wedding or family celebration and can also cater for business away days or team-building sessions including refreshments.
The doors to our workshops are open 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday and we would love you to come in and see what we’re making.
Our Art Makers create beautiful pieces including ceramics, beaded jewellery, paper mache sculptures, mosaic mirrors and colourful wooden furniture.
We are a very friendly centre and we want everyone to feel welcome here. Please contact us before your visit if you have any questions about accessibility or the facilities we offer.
We are located just off the A59 between Harrogate and Knaresborough. Our new car park has flat firm surfaces and spaces for disabled visitors. Local buses stop regularly just outside the entrance. Northern rail operate regular train services to Knaresborough from York, Leeds and Harrogate. Knaresborough rail station is just a 5 minute walk away from the centre but please be aware the route can be steep and uneven in places.
Access at the Centre
There are firm level paths around the Centre and all of our rooms are fully wheelchair accessible. Several rooms also feature tracking hoists.
We have a changing places accessible toilet that is available free for public use.
Our team will do everything we can to make sure you enjoy your visit. If you need any help you can speak to one of our cafe team or pop into our office.
I think the facilities including an amazing changing places toilet are probably the best in Yorkshire. There is a definite workplace feel rather than a day centre, lots of fun, inclusion and a brill atmosphere.”
