Our Bradford Centre open morning is a chance to meet staff, students and employers and find out about our work and education pathways for young disabled people.
Visit and apply
Are you and your family making choices about your future and what you’d like to do next? We recommend that you visit us before making an application as it gives you the chance to look around, ask questions and see whether Henshaws is right for you. On this page you can book onto one of our open events or contact us to arrange an individual visit and tour at a time which suits you.
What happens on an open day?
At our Harrogate campus we will meet you and your family in reception and show you to one of our meeting rooms. There you will meet staff who will tell you a bit more about Henshaws and give you a chance to ask questions. There might be some other families and students there who are finding out whether Henshaws is right for them too.
Next you will go on a tour of College to have a look at our facilities and see some sessions taking place. As we go round we will talk to you about your future plans and find out more about you. We’ll come back to the meeting room for lunch. Afterwards we can talk you through how to apply to College if you decide that you would like to do this.
At our Bradford Centre open mornings you will meet staff and students and find out about our pathways to work or further study. We will show you around the centre and there is an opportunity to ask questions and chat over a cup of tea and biscuits.
Next steps: if after your visit you decide Henshaws is right for you, please read on to find out everything you need to know about applying
How to apply
Although we welcome applications at any time, we recommend applying early, ideally 15 to 18 months before your preferred start date to allow enough time for your local authority to make a funding decision.
Our transitions team can offer support and guidance to help you complete the application paperwork. Please enclose a copy of your latest Education, Health and Care Plan plus any other supporting information.
You are welcome to visit college as many times as you like throughout this process.
We will request additional information from your school and, if our pre-entry
panel approves your application, carry out a multi-disciplinary assessment to determine whether we can meet your needs.
We will keep you informed throughout the process to let you know the outcomes of decisions which affect you.
