Our community houses

We provide housing in our local Yorkshire community for over 60 people.  The houses

  • Are for people with a visual impairment and other disabilities
  • Provide 24-hour care; 4 houses offer a supported living service to tenants for those who wish to live more independently
  • Range from 3 to 6 bedrooms
  • Are specially adapted for people with a visual impairment.

Many people who live in our Yorkshire community housing attend our Arts and Crafts Centre in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.  They attend as art makers or volunteer in the cafe and gallery area.

Support workers help residents to develop their own programmes of support.  This might include

  • Further education
  • Work placements and voluntary experience
  • Leisure and sporting activities
  • Social activities

All community housing residents have living skills training in the home, covering practical tasks such as menu planning, shopping and cleaning.
