Children & Young People Matched Appeal
Children and Young People Matched Appeal 2021
Between now and 31st August, every donation towards our work with Children and Young People, will be matched funded, by a local businessman. This means a donation of £25 would be worth £50, or a donation of £1,000 would be worth £2,000. If you are able to fundraise or make any donation during this period, it would make an incredible difference to a young person living with a visual impairment.
Children come to us reluctant to acknowledge or talk about their sight loss. The Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated this, with 67% of children we surveyed saying they feel more worried than usual. The children we support usually haven’t met others with sight loss, and are used to feeling ‘different’ and alone. They often have very low aspirations for the future, believing their sight loss will continue to disadvantage them throughout their life. They believe they can’t cook a meal, can’t try something new and can’t go on to have a full and independent life.
How can I help?
Your donation will make a profound difference to the lives of children in the North West who are facing the practical, personal and emotional challenges of sight loss.
“The I Can Do It course helped me with the life skills to enable me to achieve my dream of moving away to University.”
It will also make a tremendous difference to the families of those we help.
“On the way home, she asked what the feeling was in her stomach and we worked out that it was because she was happy for the first time – I was in tears.” – Parent of child attending ‘I Can Do It’
Please donate to our appeal as generously as you can.
