Henshaws Specialist College in Harrogate is a transformational place. Through our personalised approach to education, learning and care we empower young people aged 16-25 living with a disability to progress and live life the way they want.

Due to internal promotion, we are now looking to recruit a Health Care Assistant to work as part of the clinical team.

Our Clinical team are Clinical Lead, RGN, Senior Health Care Assistant and Health Care Assistants who work with our trained care teams to provide a high standard of medical and interventions for our students.

Job Summary:

To work as part of our clinical team to ensure that personal care and health needs are met, medication is managed to a high standard and dignity is upheld at all times.

Key responsibilities will include:

Support the care team to ensure the students receive care as directed on their individual care and support plan. This may involve intimate personal care, feeding (potentially PEG feeding), toileting, stoma care, catheterisation, bowel irrigation and suction as well as maintaining accurate records of respective procedures.

Manage and administrate student’s medication in accordance with policy and procedure.

Liaise with the Clinical Lead and Care Leads to ensure that all complex care needs are met effectively.

The ideal candidate will possess:

NVQ 2/Diploma in Health and Social Care

The ability to keep calm under pressure when dealing with challenging behaviours

Previous experience of working in the care sector and providing personal care

There may be an opportunity to undertake the trainee nursing associate programme in the future.
