Henshaws Specialist College in Harrogate is a transformational place. Through our personalised approach to education, learning and care we empower young people aged 16-25 living with a disability to progress and live life the way they want.
Due to internal progression we are now recruiting for a full time Receptionist to work on our busy College reception. The postholder will manage the College reception and telephone answering functions, acting as first point of contact for visitors and provide general administration support for College staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Management of switchboard, dealing with enquiries for the College and the wider Charity support services on campus.
- Management of reception including receiving and booking in visitors for College and the wider Charity support services on campus and keeping reception the diary.
- Executing high quality administrative work and demonstrating good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, email and databases. General typing of letters, other documents, spreadsheets, data inputting, photocopying, laminating, etc.
Significant experience of working in a responsible reception and administration role in a demanding office environment is essential, as well as the ability to provide high quality administrative support. The post holder will need to have good literacy and numeracy skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to execute meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of different learning disabilities is desirable but full training will be given.

Andrew is a student at Henshaws Specialist College. He is one of just over 100 people in the world to have been diagnosed with PACS1 syndrome, a rare genetic disorder identified less than 10 years ago. PACS 1 awareness day on 7th February marks the anniversary of the first diagnosis of the syndrome in 2011.
