Henshaws Specialist College offers further education to young people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and complex health needs. The College site boasts a fully accessible leisure centre with fully enabled gym, sports hall, hydro pool and swimming pool. The leisure centre team share the facility with a team of physio and occupational therapists.

The Sports and Fitness Centre Manager will have responsibility for ensuring that all areas of the Sports & Fitness Centre are maintained to a high standard and meet all health and safety requirements.  They will also provide sports and fitness advice for all users of the Centre, and work closely with the therapy team based at the College.

The post holder will lead on the developments new opportunities to generate income to contribute to the long term vision of the Centre.

 Key responsibilities

Management of the Centre on a daily basis with full responsibility for all aspects of health and safety in liaison with the Society Health and Safety Manager

Work closely with the College team to develop and manage income generation opportunities to ensure the long term viability of the Centre

Maintenance and cleaning requirements within the swimming pool areas including advising College maintenance staff supporting in these areas

Manage pool user safety ensuring the correct supervision via Lifeguard, Rescue Test Award or spotter is in place determined by the needs of each user group

Supervision of activities in the gym and maintenance of gym equipment

Experience of managing a sports centre, including responsibility for all aspects of health and safety, along with experience of providing sports and fitness advice and preparing individual plans is essential that the post holder is a qualified lifeguard and holds an up to date pool plant maintenance qualification.
