A fantastic afternoon at the Henshaws Awards 2018
We held our annual awards afternoon at the Midland Hotel last Thursday, celebrating the achievements of our service users, volunteers, staff and supporters across our Community Services in Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
We were lucky to be joined by BBC North West presenter Annabel Tiffin, who hosted the afternoon for us, and joined by charity President Warren Smith the HM Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester and Mayors from various Greater Manchester areas.
We had performances from the fantastic Jess Bennett, and from Dave Steele, who performed a number of his moving poems about his own sight loss and the effect it has had on him and his family.
It was a fantastic afternoon celebrating the achievements of our service users, volunteers, staff and supporters in 9 different categories. Congratulations to all of our winners:
Technology Award: Adam Pearson
Friendship Matters : Pauline Coltman
Eye Health Professional of the Year: Laura Ross
Opticians of the Year: Wallwork Opticians
VI Friendly Business of the Year: Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM)
Volunteer of the Year: Arthur Aston
Long Service: Hilda Smith & Hilary Yates
Impact Award: David Steele
Gillian Lawrence: Beth Arnold
All our winners came home with a unique trophy, handmade by our Art Makers at the Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre in Knaresborough.
Congratulations to all our winners, and to everyone who was nominated for an award! Check out some of the photos from our afternoon on our Facebook page.
We can't do it without you
