Henshaws Awards 2019 – nominations are now open

Within the Henshaws community, there are lots of people who achieve more than they can imagine each year. Whether it is someone who has overcome the challenges from sight loss, or a company who has gone beyond expectations to make their services accessible, this is your chance to recognise their achievements by nominating them for one of our awards.

This year we have eight categories, and we would love as many nominations as possible.

The categories are as follows –

Gillian Lawrence Award

This category is for visually impaired people who have overcome their own particular obstacles and in doing so, become a positive role model for others

Technology Award

The category is for a visually impaired person who has used technology to transform their lives e.g. email/online shopping/ Skype

Friendship Matters Award

This category is for a Henshaws service user who has befriended other service users and supported them through their journey or has made a significant impact within one of the Friendship Matters groups.

Inspirational Young Person Award

The category is for a Henshaws service user under 18 years old who has made a significant change to their life or the lives of others.

Volunteer of the Year

This category is for a volunteer who has made a significant impact on Henshaws service users and the organisation as a whole.

Eye Health Professional of the Year

This category is for the Eye Health professional of the year e.g. optician, a nurse at the Eye Hospital etc who has provided the best support for people with visual impairments this year.

Visual impairment friendly Opticians of the Year

This category is for the opticians who has provided the best support for people with visual impairments this year.

Visual Impairment Friendly Business of the Year

This category is for a company which has provided the best customer service for visually impaired people in the North West.

Please note that awards are for achievements over the last 12 months.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 19th April 2019 and the awards will be presented on Thursday 13th June 2019 at The Midland Hotel, Manchester.
