Cheers to 21 years at Henshaws Beer Festival
We began our 21st birthday celebrations last weekend with Henshaws first ever beer festival. It was a fantastic event where we invited people to come along and say cheers to 21 years of supporting disabled people in Yorkshire to go beyond expectations.
Over 750 visitors came to our Arts & Crafts Centre to enjoy Henshaws Beer Festival last Saturday.
Live music from 10 different acts throughout the day and into the night gave the event a real festival feel, and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the sunshine, the beer and raising money for Henshaws at the same time.
The Beer Festival came about thanks to the collaboration between four of Harrogate and Knaresborough’s finest local breweries. Cold Bath Brewing Co, Daleside Brewery, Harrogate Brewing Co. and Roosters Brewing Co. teamed up to offer visitors a range of 21 beers celebrating 21 years of Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre.
One of these beers was ‘Br-ale: Henshaws root & fruit beer’. Brewed exclusively for Henshaws Beer Festival and named via an online competition for the public (with the winners receiving Beer Festival tickets!). This thirst quenching Blonde beer is made with malt from Thomas Fawcett Maltsters in Castleford, Oldroyd’s Yorkshire forced rhubarb, root ginger, Yorkshire water and fruity U.S Cascade hops.
Festival goers supped an impressive total of 2523 pints!
Visitors to the event could also take home something truly unique or enjoy family friendly activities thanks to our fantastic range of stall holders showcasing throughout the day. Glitter facepainting, textiles, glassware and vinyl records were just some of the local stalls on offer.
Thank you to our wonderful sponsors including title sponsors Jelf and T-shirt sponsors CNG, we couldn’t have done it without you. And thank you to everyone who came along to the event or supported us in the run up to it. Together you are helping us to change people’s lives.
We’re delighted to share that our first Henshaws Beer Festival raised a whopping £17,742.41. Thanks to everyone who supported us. This will enable us to continue our work to support disabled people to go beyond expectaations.
We’d love to hear your feedback on the festival if you attended. Feel free to join in the conversation online via our Facebook and Twitter pages, or sign up to our mailing list to keep up to date with future events.
