Oldham CYP Project recognised with national award
We're pleased to announce that last week, Henshaws were awarded the 'Together We Are Stronger' award from Visionary!
The category was set up to recognise projects that demonstrated the positive impact of linking with others to develop and deliver services, as voted by other local sight loss charities within the Visionary organisation.
It was awarded to our Children and Young People’s (CYP) project, which was recognised as an innovative example of how partnership working achieves positive outcomes for CYP and families living with sight loss. By joining skills, knowledge and expertise, we were able to provide Family Support and Eye Health Education to families and communities, reaching more people than ever, and more than we could have working alone. We worked in partnership with the Sensory Education Team, Eye Heroes, SeeAbility, ophthalmologists, local College, Mahdlo and a local dance and theatre company – working together to go ‘beyond expectations’ for visually impaired CYP!
Director of Community Services Rob Cooper and Community Services Manager Fiona McMullen accepted the award at the annual Visionary conference in Birmingham (pictured above) last week.
A huge congratulations to the team! If you would like to find out more about our Children & Families service and how we support young people with sight loss, their families and support network within their local community, visit our page at henshaws.org.uk/children-families.
Our CYP project in Oldham is generously funded by the Stoller Charitable Trust.
We can't do it without you
Henshaws rely on voluntary donations; our work just wouldn’t be possible without people like you. Your support empowers local people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to increase their independence, achieve their dreams, and go beyond expectations.
