Set in peaceful surroundings and nestled in the heart of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, our Arts and Crafts Centre offers a range of fully accessible facilities and activities to inspire you and bring out the creative flair within. 

Whether you’re interested in becoming an Artmaker, want a yummy treat in a gorgeous setting, are interested in hiring out our centre for an upcoming event, or just want to explore our gardens, we’d love to see you! Everyone is welcome to come and get creative with us however they would like.

Arts and Crafts Workshops

Our Arts and Crafts Centre is proud to offer a wide range of workshops in which we support Artmakers in discovering their talents, putting them into practice, and realising their full potential. On weekdays, our workshops are filled with Artmakers creating beautiful and unique pieces of art.

At Henshaws, we don’t do things by halves. Each workshop is thoughtfully designed and led by skilled, passionate leaders who guide our Artmakers step-by-step, helping them build confidence in their skills while fostering a fun, supportive environment. Here, we believe creativity is for everyone, regardless of experience level.

We’re passionate about ensuring that our Artmakers get the most out of their time with us, so we craft personal programmes of creative workshops and training tailored to their needs. This way, everyone who attends our centre can be confident that they are only getting the learning they’re passionate about.

Café

One of our favourite areas of the centre is our unique little café! It is fully licensed, open for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks, and offers tasty homemade soup, sandwiches, topped jacket potatoes, cakes, and more. We’re also proud to use seasonal ingredients sourced locally or grown on-site where possible.

Our café is more than just a spot to grab a bite – it’s an integral part of the training experience at our Arts and Crafts Centre. Artmakers are involved in preparing and serving food, giving them valuable experience in a real-life café setting. Please be aware that this is a training café, so service may take a little longer than you are used to; we promise it’s worth the wait!

Garden Centre and Shop

In our little garden centre, you’ll find a beautiful variety of flowers and plants, all of which have been proudly grown and selected by our Artmakers. Our staff and Artmakers are committed to ensuring this gorgeous area is constantly full of nature and crafted with happiness and love.

The plants on display at our centre are available for purchase; why don’t you pop down for a visit and grab yourself some beautiful new flowers for your garden?

Within our café, you’ll also find an exciting range of products from Handmade at Henshaws, our social enterprise. You can purchase a variety of products made at our centre, including handmade cards, ceramics, bags, jewellery, bird tables, bird boxes and artwork.

It’s a great place to find a one-of-a-kind card or present to keep for yourself or give to a loved one – and you’ll be helping to support our work as well… It’s a win-win!

Hire our Arts and Crafts Centre

Because we’re so proud of our Arts and Crafts Centre and the hard work that has gone into it, we are pleased to offer it for hire! Our idyllic, accessible venue is situated right in the heart of Knaresborough and is ideal for a wedding or family celebration. It can also cater for business away days or team-building sessions, including refreshments.

Our facilities for hire include a large café area, beautiful outdoor spaces, and individual room hire.
