Go go Team Henshaws!

This year we decided to put together a team of staff and volunteers to take part in the Morrisons Great Manchester Run on Sunday 10th May to raise much needed funds for Henshaws so that we can continue to offer our life changing services to support more people affected by blindness and other disabilities.

As staff and volunteers we see first-hand how our support can change people’s lives and help empower them to reach their full potential. On Team Henshaws so far include Nick Marr (Group Chief Executive), Robert Cooper (Director of Community Services), Alice Carey (Trusts and Grants Manager), Hayley Middleton (Trusts and Grants Officer), Helen Jenkins (Fundraising and Marketing Assistant), Natalie Thompson (Children and Young People Enablement Officer) and Dale Haslam (Volunteer). There are still places, so if you want to be on Team Henshaws you can sign up now.

Did you know? There are almost two million people in the UK living with sight loss. Nearly half of blind and partially sighted people feel ‘moderately’ or ‘completely’ cut off from people and things around them.

There are 11 million disabled people in the UK. That’s nearly 1 in 5 adults who have serious difficulties getting around, experience long-lasting pain, or who struggle to communicate unaided.

At Henshaws we believe that living with sight loss or a disability shouldn’t mean that you have less right to an independent, happy and fulfilling life and future. We provide support, training, workshops and social groups to blind, visually impaired and disabled people of all ages throughout the North of England.

Please support us by digging deep and donating anything you can to allow us to continue to offer our life changing services to support more people affected by blindness and other disabilities. You can sponsor us via JustGiving here. Thanks in advance!

If you want to come down on the day (Sunday 10th May) to watch us run/walk/hobble the route and cheer us on then you can join our cheering squad! You won’t be able to miss us as we will all be donning our bright orange Henshaws t-shirts!

We can't do it without you

Henshaws rely on voluntary donations; our work just wouldn’t be possible without people like you. Your support empowers local people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to increase their independence, achieve their dreams, and go beyond expectations.
