This November, Henshaws is launching its 12 Days of Giving appeal to support Artmakers at the Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre in Knaresborough. We are calling on businesses, community groups, and individuals to help fund a year of creative workshops. These programs foster self-expression and growth for adults with disabilities. Every donation makes a real impact, allowing Henshaws to continue offering inclusive, enriching programs that empower our community.

Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre: A Hub for Creativity and Connection

At the Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre, over 150 Artmakers engage in diverse workshops, from Woodwork and Pottery to Music, Horticulture, and more. Here, they build confidence, make friends, and explore their creative potential. Each program provides a supportive environment, allowing Artmakers to flourish. Find out about our workshops here.

“Our workshops go beyond creating art; they are a source of self-expression, confidence, and transformation,” says Flora Simpson, Fundraising Development Manager at Henshaws.

The Importance of Community Support

Funding is essential to keep these life-enhancing workshops running. Each year, Henshaws needs £16,000 for materials like mosaic tiles, clay, wood, and paint. In addition, a warm and safe environment is crucial, especially in winter. Heating and lighting make the Centre accessible and comfortable, covering specific needs for Artmakers’ safety and health. This all adds up to weekly operating costs of over £1,000. That’s why we rely on the generosity of our community through the 12 Days of Giving.
