What do students get up to at our new Bradford Centre?
Our Bradford Centre opened up earlier this year, supporting students towards employment. The Centre Manager Roxanne shares what the students have been up to:
“Henshaws Bradford Centre opened its doors to our first cohort of students in September and we currently have 7 students, 3 days a week. All students have an aspiration to gain employment and are therefore studying a supported internship pathway.
This half term in employability lessons we have been exploring employability and enterprising skills. We’ve looked at rights and responsibilities in college and in the workplace and health and safety when using ICT.
In ICT students have produced CVs and have located jobs using a range of job websites and search techniques. As part of enterprise lessons Students used all the skills they have been learning to plan a trip to bowling and a local restaurant. They were tasked to identify the maths, English, employability skills and British values we will be using during our trip and presented their pitch to the whole class.
Next half term we have Bradford City visiting to discuss opportunities in the sports industry and Barclays Life Skills to deliver an employability session to our students”.
Our outreach centre in central Bradford takes you to the next steps towards employment or further study, through our pathways specifically developed to prepare you for the world of work. Find out more about our college in Yorkshire and centre in Bradford at henshaws.ac.uk.
We can't do it without you
Henshaws rely on voluntary donations; our work just wouldn’t be possible without people like you. Your support empowers local people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to increase their independence, achieve their dreams, and go beyond expectations.
