Eccentric viewing is a non-tech solution that involves looking away from an object to utilise the peripheral vision, enabling individuals to read or perform daily tasks. Although challenging, this approach has been successful for some people with macular degeneration.

Steady eye strategy is similar to eccentric viewing but involves focusing on the useful part of the macula while moving the text, making reading easier and faster.

Magnification is an essential tool for those with visual impairments. It is crucial to have the correct magnifiers prescribed and to use them correctly. Bringing the magnifier close to the eye and using it on a stable platform optimises the reading position.

Lighting plays a significant role in enhancing visual clarity. Task lighting is recommended, and the use of adjustable lights with different colour temperatures (white, gold, blue) can help create suitable lighting conditions based on individual needs.

The video emphasises that finding the right lighting and using appropriate magnifiers can make a significant difference in utilising the remaining eyesight effectively.
