Dave Steele

Dave Steele, known as The Blind Poet, is an award-winning poet, author, speaker and disability advocate from Manchester. Living with Retinitis Pigmentosa, Dave uses poetry and storytelling to inspire resilience, hope and inclusion, sharing his journey of sight loss with audiences around the world.
Dave has been a proud Ambassador for Henshaws for a number of years and became a Patron in 2024. He has hosted and supported many of the charity’s events, including our Carols by Candlelight services at both Ripon and Manchester Cathedrals, helping to raise awareness and celebrate the achievements of people living with sight loss and other disabilities.
Through his creative work, public speaking, and community engagement, Dave is passionate about breaking down barriers, championing accessibility, and empowering others to live boldly and without limits.
