Out In The City – LGBTQ+ Social Support Group for Over 50s

Out In The City is a friendly, self-organised group supported by Age UK Manchester. It provides a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ people over 50 to share experiences and build lasting friendships through regular meet-ups and outings.

When & Where:

The group meets every Thursday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

Address: Cross Street Chapel, 29 Cross Street, Manchester, M2 1NL.

Out In The City also meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

Address: Manchester Central Library, St Peter’s Square, Manchester, M2 5PD. Chief Librarian’s Office – take the lift to the third floor and turn left through the doors signed “Meeting Rooms.”

Who is eligible?

Out In The City welcomes LGBTQ+ people aged 50 and over who want to meet others, enjoy social activities and share a sense of community in a friendly, inclusive setting.

What to expect:

Expect a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where you can chat, share stories and make friends. Weekly meetings often include social time, discussions and updates on community events. The group also arranges regular trips and cultural outings across Manchester and beyond, offering a chance to explore new places and build supportive connections.

Booking Required:

Thursday meetings are drop-in and do not require booking.

Some activities and Wednesday sessions do need to be booked in advance. You can book and ask questions on the Out In The City Website.
