If you’re living with sight loss and would like to meet others in a relaxed, local setting, our Pennine Vale social group could be just what you’re looking for. Each month, people from across Saddleworth and Oldham come together for friendly conversation and meaningful connection.
Whether you’ve recently experienced changes to your vision or have been living with sight loss for a while, you’ll receive a warm welcome. This group gives you the chance to share experiences, build friendships and enjoy time with others who understand.
When & Where:
We meet on the third Friday of every month, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Sessions are held at the Sacred Heart Centre, Uppermill, OL3 6HS. The venue is fully accessible and located in the heart of the Pennine villages.
Who is eligible?
The group is open to adults with sight loss living in Oldham, Saddleworth and surrounding areas. You don’t need to be registered blind or partially sighted. If your vision affects your daily life, you’re very welcome. Carers, companions and family members are also encouraged to attend.
What to expect:
Each session is friendly, informal and shaped by the people who attend. Some weeks we simply enjoy a chat over a cup of tea, while others might include light activities, guest speakers or shared information about local services. There’s no pressure to take part in everything – you can join in at your own pace.
Many members say the group helps them feel more connected and less isolated. Over time, it’s often the small conversations that make the biggest difference.
