If you’re blind or visually impaired and want to explore how technology can support your independence, the Trafford Tech Talk group is a brilliant place to start. Whether you’re just beginning with accessible tech or already using apps, smartphones, or screen readers, this monthly group gives you the chance to ask questions. You can also try out tools and exchange knowledge with others who are in similar situations.
Run by Henshaws, the Trafford tech support group welcomes people at all experience levels. During each session, we cover a wide range of tools. These range from magnifiers and smart speakers to apps designed for navigation, reading, and daily life. Most importantly, our focus is on what’s practical, helpful, and easy to build into your own routine.
When & Where:
We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month, from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Sessions take place at 4A Washbrook House, Lancashire Office Centre, Talbot Road, Stretford, Manchester, M32 0FP. The venue is step-free and located close to public transport. This makes it easy to get to the Trafford tech support group.
Who is eligible?
The group is open to anyone with sight loss who would like to feel more confident using technology. You don’t need to be “tech-savvy”. In fact, many people join simply to learn what’s out there. Whether you’re exploring accessible devices for the first time or hoping to solve a specific issue, you’ll find support and guidance in our Trafford tech support group.
What to expect:
Each session is led by a member of our Digital Team and includes informal discussions about all aspects of tech that are relevant to sight loss. Our team offers friendly, hands-on support.
We cover a wide range of topics – from apps that help with reading and navigation and settings that make devices easier to use, to tech that is rumoured to be in the pipeline. Being part of a supportive Trafford Tech Talk group truly makes a difference.
You’ll also hear real-life experiences from other attendees. These shared insights often lead to simple tips and clever shortcuts that you might not find elsewhere.

We kindly ask that all attendees book in advance, as we are unable to accommodate drop-ins. This helps us make sure everyone gets the right support. It also ensures we can plan space and equipment accordingly for the Trafford tech support group sessions.
