The Walking Group Bury offers a friendly, supportive space to enjoy the outdoors, stay active, and meet new people. Whether you enjoy gentle strolls or simply want fresh air and conversation, this weekly group helps you do just that in a safe and social setting.

When & Where

Every Tuesday, 1:30pm
Meet at The Burrs Country Park, Bury
Please contact the office in advance if you require a sighted guide.

Who is eligible?

This walking group is open to anyone with sight loss or other access needs. You don’t need to be physically fit — the walk is gentle and adapted to suit the group. Carers and support workers are welcome too.

What to expect

Each week, the group meets for a relaxed walk through The Burrs Country Park. The route is easy to navigate, and the pace is always guided by participants’ comfort. More importantly, the emphasis is on wellbeing, connection, and enjoyment — not speed or fitness levels.

Volunteers are available to provide sighted guiding for those who request it. This ensures everyone feels safe and supported during the walk. In addition, participants often stay afterwards for a drink and a chat, creating space for social connection as well as physical activity.

Walking as part of a group can help boost mood, reduce isolation, and build confidence. The Walking Group Bury makes that experience welcoming and accessible for all.
