Join our working age social group for people with sight loss. Meet monthly in Manchester for relaxed conversation and peer connection.
If you’re of working age and living with sight loss, it can be difficult to meet others who truly understand your experiences. That’s exactly why our working age social group exists. Each month, we create a welcoming space where you can connect, share, and chat with people facing similar challenges in everyday life.
Whether you’re working, studying, caring for others, or managing your health, this group offers a chance to pause, recharge and feel understood.
When & Where:
We meet on the second Wednesday of every month, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Sessions take place in the café area on the ground floor of Manchester Central Library, St Peter’s Square, M2 5PD. The venue is fully accessible and is located close to tram, train and bus links, making it easy to reach.
Who is eligible?
We welcome working-age adults affected by sight loss from Manchester and surrounding areas. You don’t need to be registered blind or partially sighted. If your vision affects your day-to-day life and you’re looking to meet others in a similar life stage, you’ll be very welcome. Additionally, carers or companions are welcome to attend if needed.
What to expect:
Every session is informal and shaped by the people who attend. Some come to talk through challenges at work or home. Others simply enjoy having a chat in a relaxed setting. Often, you’ll find people sharing tips, resources or advice based on their own experiences. The group is also a great place to build confidence and feel part of something supportive.
Although we meet in a public café space, the group always feels inclusive and comfortable. Over time, many attendees form lasting friendships and say the group becomes a valued part of their month.
Booking Required:
We kindly ask that you book in advance, as we are unable to accept drop-ins. Booking helps us make sure there is enough space and support for everyone attending.
