Our flexible physiotherapy and hydrotherapy programmes will help you to improve your flexibility, stamina, co-ordination, body
awareness and health & well-being. Through our therapeutic trampolining programme, you will improve your core strength and balance.
Our occupational therapy team will help you to learn new skills for everyday living through adapting your environment, providing specialist equipment and task modification. We will work with you to find solutions to maximise your independence and improve your quality of life.
Speech and language therapy
We will support you to learn how to communicate your individual needs, which will build your confidence and help you to make effective independent choices. We can also teach you to use a specialist communication aid or learn a new system such as Makaton.
Visual impairment support
Our specialist rehabilitation officers can support you to make the most of your vision. Learn key communication skills such as Braille and Moon, and develop specialist mobility skills to become a safer and more confident traveller.
I help students to understand what is possible and support them to develop a more positive body image. For example, I’ll reassure them ‘your legs can do this, we can improve your balance so you can use the trampoline, or work on your strength so you can walk more safely.’ It’s about re-opening doors that our students originally thought were closed to them."
Lee Dart, Physiotherapist
We are a a sector-leading Centre for IT, recognised by Ofsted and Natspec (the Association of National Specialist Colleges) for our outstanding work with assistive technologies.
You will have your own assessment to find out the most appropriate method for you to access technology. We’ll then support you to learn those skills to use within College sessions and to transfer them beyond into adult life.
Our assistive technology team are actively developing innovative resources to support you to become more independent through technology.
We created a collection of free resources which allows learners with disabilities and additional support needs independent, safe use of mainstream technologies.
ACCESS: Technology includes an image and video search, independent feedback tool, text-to-speech player and access to personal email accounts. This free software is being used by specialist schools and colleges across the world and you can also access it at home by following the link above."
