Family Patient Support Officer
Taking your child to the hospital can be an unsettling and confusing experience for parents as well as for children.
That’s why we have a Family Support Officer based at the Paediatric Clinic of the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital once a week who can support you.
Our Family Patient Support Officer can help you by:
- Giving you support during your appointment
- Speaking to the ophthalmologist on your behalf
- Explaining anything you may not understand
- Offering emotional support
Our Family Patient Support Officer is at the hospital once a week, but you can contact us on 0300 222 5555 at anytime for support and advice. We also run an adult patient support service at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital for any adult experiencing sight loss, five days a week.
"The support I have received from the Family Support Workers at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital has been invaluable. They have supported me in ensuring relevant paperwork is in place and helped to explain things if I was unsure. It is just nice to have someone who is there who can take the time to support you."
