Volunteers are an essential part of Henshaws. We are grateful to all our volunteers for their time and dedication and could not exist without their support.
This is a key position supporting the work of our children and young people team.
Henshaws are looking for reliable and enthusiastic volunteers to help support sight impaired and severely sight impaired children and young people and their families at our events.
The role includes:
CYP Activities Volunteers will lead and assist a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, games, etc. to engage and support the children’s emotional wellbeing and enhance their confidence and resilience. Activity sessions will be carried out in venues across Manchester and Liverpool, supported by the Sessional Play workers and CYP Enablement Officers.
Commitment:
Events are ad-hoc and predominately run in school holidays and at weekends.
Volunteer profile:
- Have direct experience of working with children and young people is desirable.
- Be reliable and committed to promoting the enjoyment and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Organised.
- A flexible and positive approach.
- Adaptability to the role’s requirements.
- Personable when speaking with members of the public, staff, and other volunteers.
- Being sensitive to providing support within a care environment.
Support you will receive from Henshaws, and your involvement in our organisation includes:
- Regular contact with the manager responsible for the area with which you will volunteer.
- You will gain valuable experience and understanding of the services Henshaws offers.
- You will be part of the work of a highly regarded UK charity.
- We will reimburse reasonable expenses.
- Full training and supervision will be given as appropriate for the volunteering role.
- Volunteers are invited to attend Henshaws events which include other areas of our work.
- We ask all our volunteers to follow Henshaws policies and procedures.
- We will need you to complete documentation relating to the role.
Due to the nature/location of this role, applicants will require a DBS check.
