Our Art Workshops for Adults with Disabilities  

This workshop is designed for people with disabilities, providing a nurturing and supportive environment for participants to explore their creativity and develop new skills through the art of pottery and ceramics.

The workshop operates on an ongoing basis, Monday to Friday, and is tailored to meet the individual needs of each participant.

This workshop allows Artmakers to work outside as much as possible, doing many aspects of gardening from planting seeds to reworking and designing garden areas.

This is a craft based workshop loosely themed around producing jewellery and wire art pieces and more recently, in some sessions, textile work.

The materials Artmakers will use are generally wire, beads, fabrics, wools and threads. The variety of activities we offer enables us to provide options for our Artmakers whatever their interests and abilities.

This workshop allows artmakers to produce mosaics from their own designs through to finished products.

We make functional mosaics for the home, artworks for exhibition and mosaic commissions for individual clients and businesses.

This workshop offers a safe and supportive space for individuals with disabilities and special needs to explore self-expression through music.

We tailor our sessions to accommodate each participant’s unique needs and abilities, focusing on building confidence, enhancing communication skills, and fostering creativity.

The aim of this workshop is to provide a safe, supportive, diverse and creative space which is accessible to all.

We cater for many levels of skill and understanding and work with the individual to develop their personal practise enabling creative expression, independence, and a sense of self.

We tailor our sessions to accommodate each participant’s unique needs and abilities, focusing on building confidence, enhancing communication skills, and fostering creativity.

Printmaking is done both as self expression and as a means to create products to sell. The aim is to develop individual Artmakers’ personal practice and enable their genuine voice to be heard through creativity. We offer the following processes to our Artmakers: linocut, silkscreen, collagraph, drypoint, mono print and carborundum onto fabric and paper.

Artmakers become the face of Henshaws to customers and guests. They package and help price the products produced at Henshaws, help other workshops with any commissions and help organise events. They also learn to use the till and handle money.

This workshop has been designed around a variety of sensory focused arts and crafts and sensory play activities that relate to Artmakers senses; touch, sight, sound, smell and taste.

Artmakers learn how to explore and create through different mediums like clay, sand, paint, water, foam, food and light. Working independently and as a group, this workshop will be social as well as creative and is tailored per session to your likes and needs.

In this workshop, Artmakers create a range of simple, saleable items such as garden benches, bird tables, bird boxes and planters.

The products have been designed to be made easily and safely, with a limited range of tools and equipment and home-made jigs to help maintain a degree of accuracy.
