Meet our ‘Mythical Beasts’ Arts Maker: Ann

Meet the person behind the incredible art work:

Ann

Ann’s love of drawing comes through clearly in all of her work. The pattern and fine detail in her designs translates well into all the art disciplines here at the centre. Her Wally Dugs inspired pottery pieces are beautifully painted and her dragon drawings have made fantastic linocut designs and silkscreen prints which she has printed onto t-shirts, bags and tea towels.

Ann began this project as a complete printmaking novice and through collaboration between the paper and print workshops she has enjoyed exploring the different printmaking techniques.

Ann’s printed pieces, like these bright and vibrant tote bags, will be available to purchase throughout the exhibition at the castle courtyard gift shop.

Shaeron the printmaking workshop leader commented

‘Ann is a natural printmaker, she totally understands the process and her strong drawing skills enable her designs to work beautifully in print.’

The Beasts – Folk & Myth project has enabled Ann to explore a more imaginative side to her drawing and she has hugely enjoyed seeing her designs come to life in two and three dimensional work. Ann loves the challenge of learning something new and has gained a huge amount of confidence in her creativity through this project.
