Funding and the Local Offer

School leavers will normally have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

You will be expected to consider the local offer in your home area; however, you may wish to name a specialist college such as Henshaws which may provide a more suitable environment in terms of facilities, resources and an educational package with wider support services.

Using the EHCP, our dedicated team will undertake an assessment of applicant needs, propose a package that we consider will deliver outcomes and advise the local authority of our recommendations. The allocation of funds will normally be determined by your home local authority.

Parents and carers can now apply to become individual budget holders. Further guidance on this is available via the Independent Parental Special Education Advice.

Students in defined vulnerable groups who may be disadvantaged financially whilst in education may be eligible to access the national bursary fund. This limited fund can help to cover costs such as transport for work experience, learning materials, specialist equipment, resources and educational outcomes related to their programme of study at Henshaws.
