Henshaws Charity Golf Event: in aid of visual impairment

On Tuesday 20th of September 2023, Henshaws hosted its annual Charity Golf Day at Rudding Park in Harrogate – a wonderful event generously sponsored by Studley Engineering.

Despite the recent late summer sunshine, the day started wet and blustery but thankfully warm! The weather did not deter our incredible teams who turned up in their waterproofs, ready to support the largest event we have ever hosted, raising over £16,000 of much-needed money! These proceeds will help us support people living with blindness, visual impairment, and other eye conditions, as well as aid us in maintaining our exceptional arts and crafts day centre for adults with disabilities. 

The excitement started to build as the breakfast sandwiches and coffees were enjoyed in the Rudding Park Clubhouse. Having travelled from all over Yorkshire and the North of England, the first teams began to tee off on the short Repton course before moving on to the full Hawtree course. The competition was strong! The rest of the teams set off thick and fast, as the weather attempted to do its worst.

As the players came off the 18th hole, we wrapped up the day with a delicious BBQ and a little sunshine! Our players had the chance to relax, network and enjoy a drink in the bar. Everyone waited patiently for the scorecards to be officially totalled, and for the winners to be announced, with the raffle and silent auction draw providing excitement in the interim!

Damian, Dom, Simon and Chris from Fishtank won the 2023 Henshaws Charity Golf Day team prize on their first-ever time joining us! The integrated agency received a huge bundle of beer kindly donated by the lovely brewers at Roosters, Daleside, and Harrogate Brewing Co.

Our Best Player, Chris Aylott, the Longest Driver, Luke Howorth and our Nearest The Pin, Rob Kingham, have all won a bottle of Champagne!
